The guided setup

Each setup step, what it asks for and when it counts as done.

For:Owner / Management

The guided setup takes a new company through everything it needs before its first payroll, one step at a time. This guide lists each step, what it asks for and when Sahora counts it as done.

Open the guided setup

  1. Open the company's Dashboard.
  2. On the Setup card, click Start guided setup (or Continue guided setup).

Click Next step when a step is done, or Skip for now to come back later. Back returns to the previous step, and you can click any step in the list to jump to it.

Sahora decides a step is done from your data, not from a tick. If you stop and come back, it opens at the first step still open. Everything you save here is also on Company setup.

Extra steps when employees use the portal

If your employees use the employee portal, four more steps appear. Do them on their own pages, not from the guided setup's button:

  • Departments and their supervisors: add departments on Company setup, then give each a supervisor on Users. Done when every department has one. Without a supervisor, requests go to the owner and payroll officer.
  • Shifts and schedules: assign shifts from Employees → Bulk changes → Assign shifts. Done when every active employee has a schedule.
  • Clock-in settings (only if employees clock in on their phones): set where they may clock in and whether a selfie is needed on Company setup. See Clock-in controls.
  • Invite employees to the portal: invite them all at once on Employees (the button shows how many are waiting, for example Invite 12 to the portal). Done when every employee with an email has a login. See Inviting employees to the portal.

What can go wrong

  • "Every pay group already has pay periods, so a template can't replace their schedules." Change the settings by hand on Company setup instead.
  • "Only the company owner can apply a template." Other users see the steps but can't save the owner's settings. Ask the owner.

Good to know

  • A template sets company choices only. Statutory rates, contributions, tax, holiday pay and minimum wages always come from the government tables.
  • Applying a template replaces the current settings for the chosen pay group. Shifts already on file with the same name are kept, and pay groups with pay periods are never changed.

Where this guide gives a rate, limit or number of days set by law, it is the one in force today, 24 October 2026, from the official tables Sahora uses for payroll.
