Your BIR Form 2316

View and sign your yearly tax certificate.

For:Employee

Basahin sa Filipino

BIR Form 2316 is your yearly Certificate of Compensation Payment/Tax Withheld. Sahora builds it from your approved payslips. This guide shows how to view it and sign it in the employee portal.

View your certificate

  1. Open BIR 2316. Your certificates lists one row per year and employer, with the number of Approved pays.
  2. Tap PDF on a row.
  3. Type your birth date as the password, as MMDDYYYY (for example 05141990), and tap Open.

The copy in the portal is for your reference. Your employer gives you the signed copy by the BIR deadline.

A year still in progress is marked Provisional: year not finished. It shows the figures so far, and they can still change.

Sign your certificate

You can sign once the year has ended, or after your last day with the employer. The Sign link appears on the row then.

  1. Tap Sign on the row.
  2. On Sign your BIR 2316 for the year, tap open the PDF and read the certificate first.
  3. Sign in one of these ways:
    • Best: print the certificate, sign it by hand and give it to your employer. Or upload a scan or photo of it: under Upload a scan or photo of your signed paper copy, tap Choose a file and choose a PDF, PNG or JPEG of up to 2 MB.
    • If signing on paper isn't possible: draw your signature in the box with your finger. Tap Clear to start again.
  4. Read the statement beside the box and tick it.
  5. Tap Sign. You see "Signed. Your employer sees the certificate as signed." (or "Scanned copy uploaded." for a scan).

The row then shows how and when you signed, and the link becomes View or sign again.

When you must sign again

If your employer corrects the figures after you signed, the sign page says The figures changed after you signed: please sign again. Your earlier signature is no longer printed on the certificate. Read the new PDF and sign again.

Withdraw your signature

On the sign page, tap Withdraw my signature to remove it. Signing again also replaces your earlier signature. These parts of the sign page are in English.

What can go wrong

  • "This certificate can be signed once the year ends, or after your last day with the employer.": wait until the year is over.
  • "Tick the acknowledgement to sign.": tick the statement before tapping Sign.
  • "Upload a PDF, PNG or JPEG of the signed form." or "The scanned copy is larger than 2 MB.": choose a smaller or different file.
  • "That password did not open the file. Try again.": type your birth date as month, day and year, with no spaces or dashes.

Good to know

  • The sign page explains substituted filing: if the form marks you as qualified (one employer during the year, and the tax withheld equals your tax due), you don't file an income tax return yourself. If you are not sure, ask HR before signing.
  • If you had more than one employer this year, each one gives you its own certificate.
  • The certificate uses your approved payslips. If a payslip looks wrong, ask about it first (see Your payslips).
